Tax Advice, Tax Compliance and Cross-Border Support With One Primary Adviser

TaxRep advises on German tax matters and cross-border cases involving Switzerland and the United States. In international matters, one primary adviser personally assesses how the relevant tax systems and tax treaties interact and remains involved from the initial analysis and tax filings through later tax authority questions.

Why our cross-border model is different

Cross-Border Advice With One Primary Adviser

Multiple tax systems – one substantive view of the overall case

In an international tax matter, it is often not enough to analyze the German, Swiss or U.S. tax question independently.

Tax residency, income sourcing, withholding taxes, treaty provisions, foreign tax credits, ownership interests, retirement arrangements and transaction timing may affect more than one jurisdiction at the same time.

TaxRep therefore treats the cross-border matter as one connected tax case. The relevant tax positions are developed together before the individual returns and filings are submitted.

One Continuous Process

From the initial tax analysis through assessments and authority questions

Particularly in cross-border matters, the engagement does not necessarily end when a tax return is filed. Tax assessments, foreign tax credits, withholding taxes or questions from one tax authority may require additional action in another jurisdiction.

1. One Intake

Residence, income, assets, ownership interests, workdays and existing tax documents are collected once for the overall case.

2. Cross-Border Analysis

Domestic tax rules, treaties, income sourcing, withholding taxes and foreign tax credits are assessed together.

3. Filing and Deadlines

The required tax returns, disclosures and supporting documents are aligned substantively and managed across the relevant deadlines.

4. Follow-Up and Representation

Assessments, authority questions, foreign tax credits, supplemental filings and required amendments remain part of the same case.

Personal continuity after filing

The adviser who developed the original cross-border tax position can personally continue the matter when the relevant tax authorities later request information or clarification.

Your case therefore does not have to be explained again to a new local adviser simply because a tax authority raises a question.
